Pragmatisme, Liberalisme, dan Pendidikan dalam Pendekatan Deep Learning pada Mata Pelajaran Bahasa Inggris

Abstract


Pendidikan abad ke-21 menuntut pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang tidak hanya berfokus pada aspek linguistik, tetapi juga pada kemampuan berpikir kritis, kreativitas, dan penggunaan bahasa dalam konteks nyata. Namun, praktik pembelajaran di Indonesia masih cenderung mekanistik dan berorientasi hafalan, meskipun Kurikulum Merdeka menekankan pembelajaran bermakna. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji keterkaitan filsafat pragmatisme dan liberalisme sebagai landasan konseptual bagi implementasi deep learning dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi kepustakaan dan analisis isi, penelitian ini menganalisis 25 sumber ilmiah yang dipilih secara purposive serta didukung prosedur Systematic Literature Review. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pragmatisme memberikan dasar pedagogis untuk pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman dan pemecahan masalah, sementara liberalisme mendukung kebebasan berpikir, otonomi belajar, dan pembelajaran humanistik. Integrasi kedua landasan ini relevan untuk memperkuat praktik deep learning dalam English Language Teaching (ELT), khususnya melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek, asesmen autentik, dan inquiry learning. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa keberhasilan implementasi deep learning bergantung pada kesiapan guru, dukungan kebijakan, dan desain pembelajaran yang reflektif serta kontekstual. Implikasi penelitian ini mendorong guru, institusi pendidikan, dan pembuat kebijakan untuk menggunakan filsafat pendidikan sebagai dasar operasional dalam merancang pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang lebih bermakna, demokratis, dan berorientasi masa depan.
